Summer

I will forget you someday.
I did, the ones before you.
And create new life,
and an endless sea of hope.

We repeat these circles,
iterate over another,
scar our lives further,
hoping to bleed anew.

Breathing a new life,
each time over,
another cursed cycle,
another craving soul.

I wish I did not.
I hope to remember.
But I know this life better now,
I know time will melt the snow.

Now we part ways,
maybe we'd meet again,
in a crowded bar, playing old memories,
with the summer tunes from the past.

I'd get us beers,
or celebratory shots.
We're old friends remember,
who forgot to forget.

Fire

We met in chaos
With your world
half burning Into mine
Half consuming lust
Almost lovers loved
Separated by bodies
Mortals playing gods
In momentary haze
Their world screaming
Ours holding still

If I'd reach for you
Would you still exist
Would you consume
And let me
Or would you disappear
Into the night
As Another creature
All suffocating cage
Living with fire
Within fire, a fire

A butterfly's pie.

They were meeting after a long time. He was anxious. She was cheerful. They had a summer together, and now a couple of winters since. They had named their weeks together on flowers. And there was a whole unkempt garden between them now. He called her butterfly, she called him apple pie.
So where does one start after ten reruns of their favourite TV shows, neither knew. It started with a crumbling apple pie on her plate and an open social networking site on his slate.

They met at a cafe. On a roof top. One of the busy by-lanes of a city they half explored in their previous life together. She asked for coffee - Black. No Milk. He wanted something cold to sooth his burning self. He asked for something Hot.

The place was set. The pleasantries exchanged. The accent changed. And the humour charged.

She had pretty eyes. His only for her. They wanted to talk, emote, maybe even communicate. And that is the thing with eyes, they just blink, flicker and close. And everything else is lost in between.

He did not remember why they parted, he did remember when. And the number of girls even since then. She remembered that night. And the sound of their fight. Her message tone echoed her fears. He was once too dear.

He dint love her anymore, of that he was sure. She wasn't sure why she still felt something weird.
They were like children lost in a playground from another time.
She smiled, he acknowledged. She had the same vacant expressions on her face. Something that he had not found anywhere else. He had the same grin, when he saw something he wanted.

He reminded her of everything that she had left behind to start afresh. She reminded him of the path he did not take. And on that day when the sun was setting over the city horizon, it did not matter to either of them. She just wanted to be with her apple pie. And he had found his butterfly.
Once Again.

An Austrian Summer

We'd be in Austria
In that cafe
On that street
Overlooking those snow peaked mountains
Im sipping on my coffee; reading a book
You're sitting across
We're happy
Together;
And we have this golden retriever
We named him 'max'
Max is so adorable
A pup
Max is trying to get your attention
You are reading some magazine
Something about the old and beautiful castles around
We decide to go there the next day
And then we walk out and take Max along
You're holding on to my arm
I like it when you do that
The cobbled streets
There is a gentle breeze
And it carries a familiar tune
Some violinist playing in one of those cafes
And you smile.
And we head home.

Reboot.

At peace. At a place. Not so far from my place. But closer, enough to be insignificant. Sitting on a bench. Cool evening breeze. Bats flying. Runners running. Dogs barking. And I'm listening.
My mind seems to be clear today. I have no conviction of doubt's existence. My thoughts are free. My thinking still. My mind is at the present. At this park. On this phone. Noting down these things I see. I'm not bothered by the past now. I'm not worried about the future.. I am like the shadow that exists only under this particular light. The present is light. The light fading in the present.
Old men walking along a triangular path. My bench is on one of its sides. They greet each other. They miss me. I miss me.
I have been away. Away from myself. It's time to come back now. Go back.

Cafeteria past lunch time.

I am at the cafeteria. Another IT giant. Commoners all with a tag around their neck. Saying, ' I am this person and so let me in.' I have a tag too. It says visitor. I finished my cup of filter coffee. And now I sit here and look at all these people. They seem happy. People in large groups. Friends of similar age. Couples from the same team. And I with my empty cup of coffee.
It wasn't long back that I was one of them. Stuck at a similar place. With similar sets of friends and varieties of food counters to choose from.
Cafeteria meant getting off from doing the things that gets one paid. It meant having the same not so tasty food everyday. It meant table tennis and pretty ladies at the odd tables. A year back I was one of them. And now I write about it.
This place is so similar to one I left behind. And yet I try to find those things that distinguish it from the other. It has all the similar features. The ordered chairs, the IT engineers talking about taking the way out, the food stalls all crowded selling the same tasteless nourishments.
I suppose the only change is in me. My perspective. I was on the other side and now I'm here. I remember stretching the limits of our lunch hour and leaving early to play TT. I remember odd things about that place. This one too would have people like us.
So now I ask myself, ' Do you miss it?'.
I don't know if I really do. I was happy there as I am happy now. If so then why do I end up questioning my happiness over the time past?
